It was formed when requested to create a DVD piece by Israeli label: Kadima Collective in 2011.
5 bassists with different backgrounds were gathered being resonant with Testu Saitoh’s idea on bass.
The repertoires are composed by Tetsu Saitoh, whose style ranges from Korean traditional music, Argentine Tango, percussional performance, improvisation to singing.
The sound is created with plain gut strings, which is likely to be the world’s first attempt as a bass ensemble.
Also, latent abilities of contrabass is drawn by its other attempts such as irregular tuning, “prepared” contrabass, etc.
It was named for they experienced the 2011 Tōhoku
earthquake and the following nuclear disaster
while rehearsing for their first concert.

2011年イスラエルのレーベルKadima collectiveよりDVD制作の依頼を受けて結成。
活動ジャンルも演奏スタイルも国籍も性別も学歴も楽歴も違う5人のベーシストが齋藤徹のベースに対する考えに共鳴して集まりました。
レパートリーは齋藤徹のオリジナルで韓国伝統音楽、アルゼンチンタンゴ、打楽器的奏法、即興、歌などを演奏しています。
全員がプレーンガット弦を使用するというおそらく世界初の音響も魅力です。
変則チューニングやプリペアードなどを試み、コントラバスの知られざる魅力を引き出しています。
リハーサル時に東日本大震災および原発事故があり、さまざまな経験を共有したことから名前を付けました。
